Mantra Crafts's Story
Mantra Crafts's Story
Mantra Fabrics only uses 100% natural hand-woven fabrics with hand-produced yarns free of synthetic fibers in our tie-dye and Shibori clothes.
All pieces are naturally dyed, chemical free, and made according to the traditional method which is favorable to the artisan and the wearer’s health and also environmentally friendly.
Cotton, tie-dye, and indigo have been part of Thai people’s life. 40 years ago, almost every family in the countryside grew cotton trees, raised silk worms, dyed fabrics with indigo, and wove their own clothes.
The love and passion for textile arts have grown in the heart of Miss Mintra Mathong, the founder of Mantra Fabrics.
Nowadays, the lifestyle is being destroyed by the modern lifestyle where everything has to be quick and convenient.
Cotton trees have been replaced with rubber trees, natural indigo with synthetic one, and natural cotton with factory-made synthetic fibers.
For those reasons, Miss Mintra Mathong founded Mantra Fabrics, determined to revive cotton textile work, tie-dye art, and natural dye work in the local community. Today, our groups of artisans have expanded to over 3 villages with more than 50 craftsmen. All work together to bring crafts and natural dyes back to life.
