Mantra Crafts's Story

Mantra Fabrics only uses 100% natural hand-woven fabrics with hand-produced yarns free of synthetic fibers in our tie-dye and Shibori clothes.

All pieces are naturally dyed, chemical free, and made according to the traditional method which is favorable to the artisan and the wearer’s health and also environmentally friendly.

Cotton, tie-dye, and indigo have been part of Thai people’s life. 40 years ago, almost every family in the countryside grew cotton trees, raised silk worms, dyed fabrics with indigo, and wove their own clothes.

The love and passion for textile arts have grown in the heart of Miss Mintra Mathong, the founder of Mantra Fabrics.

Nowadays, the lifestyle is being destroyed by the modern lifestyle where everything has to be quick and convenient.

Cotton trees have been replaced with rubber trees, natural indigo with synthetic one, and natural cotton with factory-made synthetic fibers.

For those reasons, Miss Mintra Mathong founded Mantra Fabrics, determined to revive cotton textile work, tie-dye art, and natural dye work in the local community. Today, our groups of artisans have expanded to over 3 villages with more than 50 craftsmen. All work together to bring crafts and natural dyes back to life.

Our Products

Thick hand-woven cotton

Perfect thickness, comfortable, good for cold weather.

Light hand-woven cotton

Soft, lightweight, and portable.

Indigo blue:

Our indigo is processed with a traditional method, which involves indigo fermentation in a jar with controlled acidity and temperature, before it is used on fabrics. The difference between our natural indigo and synthetic indigo is that our indigo has a unique, soft fragrance.

Saffron Red:

Our saffron-dyed fabrics are processed more than 3 times with natural ingredients like red clay, pomegranate, and turmeric. This is an ancient technique that yields deep, beautiful, one-of-a-kind colors. Moreover, the fabrics smell nice because of turmeric.

Lavender:

We have spent over a year developing our lavender shade. The main dyeing material is lac. The cotton is dyed for more than 3 times to achieve the naturally-made, sweet, pastel purple color.

Light green:

We combined indigo with turmeric to develop a bright shade of green. The fragrant of the two plants combined also makes it refreshing and unique.
